Me and My Daddy

I borrowed HEAVILY from this layout by Stephanie Kiesewetter, but the whole reason she linked me to her blog was to inspire me to use my kits, and it worked! I really like how this turned out, my tweaking it a bit to be more "me". This is the picture I took right before Mike left for an 8 day road trip last year, Viggo not really understanding why we were sad (I cried), but still all over his Daddy.

Project Life 2012: Montly Cover Pages

20120320205523 copy
Continuing working with Life Documented by Simple Stories, I made these two layouts to sum up January and February. I made the March one as well, but since March isn't over I didn't want to finish the journalling. Keeping it simple, I just added a few stickers from the kit and some simple stamps done with my Distress Markers.

Project Life 2012: Cover Pages

Project Life 2012 cover page
I posted over on 2Peas that I'm intimidated by my Simple Stories kits, and I am, really. This one, Life Documented, has sat unopened for over a year now. Many kind Peas jumped in and immediately offered encouragement and words of advice, telling me to just jump in, cut the paper, and get going. For this kit I at least had a plan. I wanted to make them part of my Project 365, a sort of "sum up" pages for each month since they helpfully come with labels for each month. This here is my "title" page. The intro into the whole Project 365 idea. It's basically just three of the pre-made elements put together. I'm not used to using pre-made elements like this, or working within a theme, but it certainly took a lot of the guesswork out of scrapping!

And this here will be the final page of the Project 365. Hopefully at the end of the year I'll have something profound to say. These two pages were leaning heavily on the stickers provided with the kits for embellishments and honestly, I don't know what I will use to embellish as I'm really embellishment challenged.

Well, this is my first try at the Simple Stories paper. With the help of the Peas I have a lot of examples to go on (some I straight up want to copy), so we'll see how it goes from here.

Among all the other things I got done today, I did this layout. I used some of the new Prima Sun Kissed paper, flowers, and bird stamps I got at Collective Journey. Sometimes you just need to see things in real life to realize how fun they are. When I scrapbook Gambit I can do whatever I want cos, well, she's a cat and she doesn't care.

Green Fairy House

I had to make one more entry into the "green" challenge over at Make it Colourful cos I already had this Fairy Tree House by Make it Crafty printed out all big (an entire sheet of paper) and I've been wanting to colour it for a while. I also added Toto flying up at the top because he's green as well. I tried to keep it subtle and naturally green, but I had to do a pop of colour with the red flowers. Normally I would have gone purple, but I think it works the best with the yellow mushrooms. I used pearl ink to do the blue sky as the last time I did a piece this big the sky came out a bit sketchy with my Copics.

ETA: This image won the challenge.

Thinking of You Steampunk

Yeeee! I'm so excited! The steampunk digis over at Simply B  is what first got my attention to this company. Unfortunately at the time I *just* missed out on purchasing them. So this time I snapped them right up for their limited release and printed Mercius out right away to colour. I'm entering him in the Make it Colourful "green" challenge because just because you're being "romantical" is no reason just to stick with the colour red. I used both my Copics and my new Distress Markers on him. I'm still a bit iffy about them, but with other colouring mediums they seem to do well.

ETA: This image won Top 3 in this challenge.

How do you like my new watermark? I made it myself, no help from Mike. Trust me, for me, that is a HUGE accomplishment. I'm probably doing it wrong (or the long way) but at least you know it's my image. And please, I'd like to remind everyone that all my images are not to be used elsewhere without my permission and are copyright Aeryn Kelly-Reitmeyer. Thank you!

How could I forget this one!!! I made it two weeks ago and was SO proud of it it only made it onto my FB and not my blog?! Yeesh! Anyway, I really *do* like this layout. It literally took me an entire *day*, but oh well. I've got a mix of new and pretty old product going on here, in spired all by the MME Lost and Found paper that I got at the Expo. I tried to do that whole "embellishment cluster" thing and I kind of failed spectacularly, but it still ended up decent. I'm just NOT good at embellishing (which is ridiculous since I have SO MANY embellishments... of course I have them cos I don't use them!) and it never seems to look "just right" to me. Oh well, this is "almost right" and I think that's the best that's going to happen.

Neapolitan Disney

I had to play with my new Dear Lizzy Neapolitan papers just cos they're so fun and bright. I picked some photos from a few years ago where I met an old high school friend in Disneyland and we spent the day together. I also used some Autumn Leaves stamps to give a little bit of a subtle accent. I know the rule of threes, but there wasn't really anywhere to put another flower.

Autumn Colours Deux

THIS was my project for today. It's 6"x5" and it's a mix of a Make it Crafty image and two Simply B Stamps images for my second entry into the Make it Colourful "autumn colours" challenge. I was lucky enough to snag these guys as digis during their limited release (only available until 11:59pm PST tonight!), but they're also available in stamp form here. In trying to pair them with something I had to think long and hard, and then I found this image from Make it Crafty. Which is totally perfect, right? So I merged them in word, printed them out big, and have been colouring them for roughly 4 hours... my ADHD brain dawdles a lot and I was watching Star Trek: Enterprise at the time so... yeah. ANYWAY, I hope you like it, I hope it's "autumn-y" enough! Oh, and you can't see it, but the white parts sparkle.

Wanna see how it started out, and in progress? Well here ya go!

Autumn Colours

This here is my first entry into the Make it Colourful "autumn colours" challenge. I love autumn colours. It's about the only time I can handle all that red. I probably like Fall so much cos it means Mike and I go on trips to photograph the leaves changing (he's a landscape photographer). Anyhow, these two little guys are from Some Odd Girls stamps (the clear sets) and you may have seen them on my desk during my WOYWW post. Just got 'em and I wanted to try mixing Copic colouring with coloured pencils. I only have rudimentary set, but I worked on this FOREVER and I think it came out all right, hmm? Anyway, I'm entering it, so there.

ETA: This card was featured on the Some Odd Girl blog.
