Well, here it is. A collection of my art through the year. Though I don't really see any evolution, I find it pretty cool to see some of my best works collected together like this. I was hoping for like, growth, or progress, but ah well. I also think I'll make the 2013 progressively through the year so I don't have to sift through what was done what month, lol!

A new year is pretty strange for me. Part of me is excited for the ability to get a new start on things. A clean slate. The other part of me is still bitter about the previous year, as it seems there's always something to be bitter about; usually round the end of the year. That time between the end of Christmas and the beginning of the new year is a depressing few days for me, I've no idea why. It's like you're neither here nor there, just waiting for something to happen
Anyway, less depressing, I'm going with Project Life straight off this year. No more pretending I can pull off a Project 365; my life just is not that interesting. I'm going to be using Amy Tan's Sketchbook line because it's bright and pretty. The Simple Stories Life Documented line was easy last year, but a bit sombre. This line is bright and varied and should hopefully work with nearly everything I take pictures of.
I always start off my intro page with a little "hello, this is the new year, this is how it's starting" even when I was just trying for monthly sum up layouts. What state of mind I'm in, what's going on, and what I hope for the new year. That kind of thing. Here's to actually completing this project!

Well, this is it. The very last project I make graced with the Greeting Farm's watermark. It's been a wonderful ride and I am so grateful to have been chosen to be on such a fun and creative team. My fellow Showcase Farmers are excellent gals and I've loved working with them these past months. Our very last challenge was to honour a fellow farmer by CASEing a card of theirs. I chose Eva's card from the October DTT colour challenge. I really liked all the layers she put into it and thought it would make miss Anya shine. I hope you all, and Eva, like my card. It's been great fun sharing my TGF creations with you and I hope that you'll stick around to see what I have coming up in the new year! It's not TGF (though I'll always love the company and the people), but I've got some great surprises up my sleeve!

I want to wish you the very happiest of holidays from my family to yours. I hope you have a wonderful day today and your home is filled with all the magic of the season.

This card is for my BFF Katie who just graduated from SJSU. She used the Greeting Farm image for her invites, so I didn't want to repeat that. I went with the "fly and be free little bird" idea and used Deviant YamPuff's wonderful line art. I coloured her to look as much like Katie as I could. Teal for the Sharks. ;)

This week is MINE! Well, actually it's my Mom's. Her birthday is Sunday, but it's Friday for The Greeting Farm postings, so she gets her surprise early. I challenged everyone to make a birthday card that was a little offbeat. My mom, well, she's a little offbeat! That's what makes her so awesome, and uniquely MY mom. She's a big Rammstein fan, always listening to her MP3 player with ONLY them on it, so I thought that'd be a nice embellishment for my card. The "dude" thing is a joke between us, as I call her that and her co-workers were appalled I spoke to my mother that way when I was 13. It's still "dude" now I'm 29, ha!

Normally I wouldn't share something I'm so gravely disappointed in, but I worked really hard on this and have no opportunity to recolour before the holiday season is over. I tried, I swear to you, I did, but this is a lesson in not just using pencils. For me, of course. Some people manage to make it awesome. I was hoping with the pencils I could make everything look more like the metal it's supposed to be. Have more control over where the colour went. But it just didn't work out that way. It's just too stark and white. Well, I hope you find something in it you like. All the stamps are from Make it Crafty. This scene uses 6 different ones.
Just a fun little card I made with a new stamp from a new stamp company. Certainly a perfect image for a colourist, yes? Hehehe. I technically screwed up her dress though, so I covered it with the watermark, lmao! When in doubt, hide your mistakes!

For the next two weeks the DTT challenge is a colour challenge from Peggy. She chose aqua, red, and green. Since I've been using this combo a lot for Christmas cards it was actually pretty easy. I made just a simple boy card out of it, a sort of every day thing just to let a guy know you're thinking of him. Come on over and join us for the challenge. You could win a 4x6 stamp set!

Santa brings candy canes! This scene is made out of 14 different stamps including the digi stamps from The Greeting Farm: Candy Cane Snack, Toby Santa, and Chipmunk Candy Cane. I hope you enjoy it, especially if you're visiting me from the lovely feature I got in The Greeting Farm's newsletter this week. Thank you for coming and visiting me! This image was coloured using Copics and Spica glitter pens for the presents.

One of my very favourite companies, Make it Crafty, is having a DT call. My time with TGF is almost up and so I'm technically free, and this year I'm a little less afraid, so I figured I'd apply. You don't HAVE to make a project, but Zoe says if you do, you get "brownie points". The theme is "new friends" which make sense when you're hoping to hire new people, hehehe. So, I chose Alexander and Prince Charming to tell my little story of new friends meeting and Charming inviting Alexander out for a night on the town. I hope you like it, and fingers crossed for me that I get in, yeah?

I just recently joined Deviant Art. I'm enjoying playing around and looking at people's galleries. Especially since they're much better at art than I am. One of the super cool things I've discovered is that there are people that will share their awesome line art with Deviants for free! As we've discussed previous, I'm all about collecting images, so this is more awesome than I could ever have imagined.here. This is what I've done with it. I felt in a "pink" mood, which is strange for me, but it was fun!
YamPuff also drew Emiko here. You can find the original line art here on her profile. Since cocoa is a holiday treat for a lot of people, I figured she'd look good on a holiday themed card.
I hope you like the cards, and you'll go check out YamPuff's drawings, both the free ones and her other beautiful works.

This week Showcase Farmer Eva has challenged us all to make Christmas cards. Pretty helpful for those last minute people that need a little cheer this season, right? I kept it nice and simple, and quite small actually, for just a sweet little note to a friend. I hope you'll join us this week and get ahead on your holiday cardmaking!

As my fellow Showcase Farmers have mentioned, our time is coming to an end. This is my second-to-last blog post here with you all. My last being a fun FFF coming soon. This month is a month of hellos and goodbyes. Up here in Big Bear Lake, the SoCal mountains, we haven't had any snow yet, but the rain is definitely making it clear that we're saying goodbye to fall.
In honour of that I created this scene with three lovely TGF images available in the digi section of the store: Irvin Sax, Dance Fever, and Harvest. I also used the Mushroom House from Make it Crafty to complete the scene of a lovely Harvest Hoedown.
And now it's time to say hello to winter. Winter here means lots of snow, so I figured a snowy scene would be fun. I used three TGF stamps for this one too: Monkey Sled, Snowball Fight, and Toby Snowboard. I paired them with a snowman from Rick St. Dennis and created the scene itself with the winter elements from Make it Crafty.
I really hope you enjoy my scenes and have enjoyed this peek into my style these last 6 months. I really think these scenes are a signature of mine, working on full 8.5x11 pieces is something I really love doing. Hopefully you'll join me at www.AerynKelly.com for the next few weeks this month as I have many more fun TGF surprises for you to finish out my term on this amazing team with these wonderful people. Goodbye, everyone, it was absolutely wonderful sharing my projects with you all. Be well.

Showcase Farmer Jess M's challenge this week is RAINBOW! What is better than rainbow? I picked Sadie's hair for the colourification because it seemed the most fun. I hope you'll join us this week and splash some colours about!
