Sweet Boy

Since my Copics aren't really packed to travel anymore, when I stayed an entire day at Mike's work last week I took only my Faber-Castell Polychromos set of pencils with me and my box of pre-printed images. I pulled this one out that happened to be printed in the "no lines" way and set to work. I figured with such a generic image it wouldn't be hard to just go "boy" with it and used my new boy-themed Echo Park papers.
I messed up his eyebrows cos I made them too dark, but the rest of it I'm satisfied with. I like how the hair came out. Blonde hair doesn't usually conform to the "it'll be shiny where the light is" so I just tried to keep a mix of yellow, orange, and brown strands to give it depth. Though I have the full 120 collection of these pencils I really only get the one Caucasian skin tone out of it, so I just tried to focus more on the shadows his hair would create on his face. I also wanted to give him realistic eyes, which is easier in pencil since you have pinpoint precision and don't have to worry about bleeding.
