Odd Idol Top 10

Here it is everyone! The card that you lovely people *hopefully* voted for for me to get into the Some Odd Girl "Odd Idol Top 10". Thank you everyone that voted, even if you didn't pick me. I really appreciate you taking the time to try!

I couldn't really decide what I wanted to do for this round until I got a HUGE package from Make it Crafty, just overflowing with chipboard pieces. You know I'm addicted to the corners, but inside there were these wonderful little wings. I'd had ideas to make the puppies and kitties in rainbow, or to do like a collection of them, but it wasn't until I saw the wings that I knew what I wanted to do. I drew Kitty's entire background myself because I didn't want to use a Make it Crafty stamp and violate the challenge. But, yeah, that's why the flowers look weird and the rock is kinda... strange. But whatever, right?! Anyway, thank you again for voting! I'm off to create my next entry, due June 5th. Voting will  begin again on June 7th through 12th. I hope you'll try to pick me out again!

MiC Mirror Post: Steampunk Mia

Hiya! Aeryn here! I hope you all have seen and have been loving the new Cute Colour Girls as much as I have. By their name, you've probably guessed they're perfectly tailored for *cute*. Recently though I heard of the challenge to colour the *opposite* of what an image normally brings to mind. Like, for a boy, what if you coloured him in bright pink? Just a complete 180 from what you'd expect. So I was looking at Mia, and thinking about  all the bright, pretty, sweet colours I wanted to use and tried to reverse it. Instantly I thought "Steampunk!" I'd just sprung for a package of Make it Crafty chipboard pieces as well and I was so excited my new direction would let me play with them too!

I didn't want to go *totally* brown with Mia, so I added in some bright blue. It started with her pretty little eyes. One of the fun things about the Cute Colour Girls is that you get to create their eyes any way you want. I made sure to leave a lot of blue so they'd be more striking with the black of her hair. Then I feathered some blue in her hair too. I wanted her outfit to look like leather so I made it brown and I ended up giving her a brown dot background as well. Add in the chippies, painted with Smooch paints, and some Steampunk paper and she was finished!
I hope you like her and that you'll go pick up some of your own chippies. They're about to retire, so get them while they're hot! Stay crafty, everyone!
Here are the Copics I used on Mia.

Odd Idol Top 15

Thanks to my lovely friends I have made it into the top 15 contestants in Some Odd Girl's Odd Idol competition with this card. Thank you so much to everyone who managed to choose this card out of the amazing entries offered in the gallery.

I must submit my next card by 8pm on May 22nd. You can vote ONCE between May 24th and May 29th. As before, I cannot tell you which submission will be mine, but if you poke around here you'll hopefully get an insight into my style of colouring and embellishing. Again, thank you to the wonderful that *tried* to vote for me, and those that just plain liked my card. You're ALL amazing!

Project Life 2013: Week 19

Mike got me a Selphy recently, in week 19 actually, and I'm really enjoying the ability to print on the fly. It's gotten me to realise that I can now throw myself full force into Project Life and I started with just this month first off because the memories are fresh and it was documented on my personal blog.
I still used the same Amy Tangerine Sketchbook, but I kept to the greys with some orange because it was a cloudy/rainy week. I also used some cards from Recollections as well as heart punches that were a new purchase. I was pretty proud of myself that I pulled out a really old Basic Grey stamp set for journalling spot/tags. That, and I managed to incorporate a decent amount of washi, chipping away at the large stash of it.

MiC Design Team: Happy Mother's Day

Hello, everyone! Aeryn here with a little gift for my mother on Mother's Day. What can I say, I don't do anything "simple" or "timely". I don't know why, I just plain don't. Therefore it's now nearly 4pm before I was able to present this to her, lol! But she's my mom and she's got to like it, it's a rule, yeah? I tell you, I had a heck of a fun time colouring this, and trying out the whole "word clouds" thing. I mean, how neat is that "love" in the sky? Very fun, definitely doing it again. This card is a full 5x7 image so maybe Mom will frame it or something, that'd be cool. Anyway, I hope you like it, and if you're a mom I hope you had a great Mother's Day and your kids made you something awesome!

An Exercise in CAS

This is me attempting that whole CAS thing. I've tried before, with not much success. I woke up very early this morning and said "I want to colour something cute" so, yeah, you get a blue tiger.

Best Dad Ever!

I originally picked this image to use for Dad's birthday. You can see the card I ended up making in the post below. But I still loved this image and I wanted to colour it *now*. I've been having a tough time, since the beginning of the month, cos of the meds, but I managed to put colour to this sweet little digi. I gave the Daddy a moustache, like my own dad has, and I coloured them, best I could, to look like us. I think this card will have to be used as my Father's Day card or something cos it's just too cute not to send to him. At least I'm ahead for June, right?!

MiC Mirror Post: Happy Birthday

Hello all, Aeryn here! Silly, I know, but I still like making cards for my dad on his birthday. When I saw the newly released Sarah here I figured that she'd make a good card for my dad. She looks like me when I was a little girl. I gave her dark eyes and hair like mine, add in a little purple, and I'm nearly indistinguishable, lol! I paired her with Simple Stories Awesome paper, a few stickers, and some happy washi. I'm very much trying to make use of my washi!

Anyway, enough of my rambling. Little Sarah here is brand spankin' new and she's adorable, so go pick her up in the shop, yeah? Sarah Digi Stamp

A Dance for Two

I absolutely love this shot of Sirius. I printed it bigger, but it took me a while to be able to get it on a page. I had to wait for the proper story to tell.

Sing Your Heart Out

I can't get enough of the Make it Crafty Entertainer images. I coloured her on a whim, cos I knew she'd be fun, but I have to tell you I had a hell of a time trying to get her put onto a card! I swear, I'm the worst at embellishing! But, it finally came together, in one form or another, and I can now bring it to you as a card. I hope you enjoy, and remember, always sing your heart out even if you sing alone.
