Blast Off!

This one was really fun. I actually suggested a space captain when Kristy from Some Odd Girl Stamps was asking if we (the FB fans) had any ideas, so I loved this guy right away. Add in my love of space, and aliens... yeah, I was all over this. The other two aliens (the big ones) were actually freebies from the generous Barbara of Little Miss Muffet stamps. She's kind enough to provide freebies every Saturday to her fans. I figured monsters, aliens, they're all the same, right? So even though I printed out Tobie separately, I got them in on this card too. I also managed to use ALL of my navy coloured enamel dots. I think this is the only paper I have that is navy, so I had to take advantage of the opportunity and use them up. It's not that I dislike the colour it's just that... yeah, okay, I don't use it much cos I'm not really a fan. My dark blue only goes as dark as Tobie's outfit there usually. And that's totally different!

Secret Birthday

New stamps are inspiring for me. I got a collection of these "Fairwee" stamps for a *deep* discount and that inspires me too. I had to have fun with these two. This card is unabashedly stolen from inspired by Amy, a DT member for this company. She is ALL OVER Pinterest, and if you follow the link you'll see why. She sold me on these stamps a long time ago, I'm just grateful I finally got my hands on some.

Vampiress

I tried a lot of new with this image. Her hair, her skin, and even her cape. I'm happy with the results too, so I'll definitely be doing it again. I mixed the colour I "wanted" with other colours try and deepen it. Like the blue with the black of her cape. And the greenish with the blue of her skin. It made it kind of look like it's glowing. Also, I'm now out of black and charcoal cardstock. Boo!

Forbidden Science

I am actually really happy with this one. I just took a shot at it, you know. Trying something. I did a new hair colour, I layered a bunch of things; I think this is the closest I've gotten to "playing". Lots of little elements. The whole thing is behind a transparency too. For some reason I had those.

When Is It MY Turn?

The second that I bought a few digis from Some Odd Girl's "Talk Like a Pirate Day" sale I thought of pairing these digis together. There is a lot of things wrong with this project, but I'm not going to point them out so you don't get all prejudiced against it. (one of the things wrong is that I missed the "t" on "it" in the sentiment. I fixed it, but am too lazy to retake the picture)

Halloween Mischief

This purchase was almost a disaster as there was something wrong with my cute kitties when I got them. But due to some lovely customer service, I got a replacement quite quickly and got to play with them in this little scene. Too cute, right? Which is why I had to use them the second I got them. I'm unhappy with this paper because it wasn't advertised as having glitter. I literally took my vacuum to it roughly, VERY roughly, and I still ended up getting "Glitter Herpes". Not enjoyable in the least. Hate glitter. No one wants glitter in their eye, no one. Instead of "messy fur" I used a cloth for them.

I'm really happy with how this came out. The colour worked out nicely and I got to check off two digis for the price of one card with this. I was happy to see an image in my head come to fruition, with the circle of the witch and the "free" kitty on the card together.

I tried my hand at a brand new company on Monday. I mean, how cute is this ghost? How could I resist? I'm not sure about this card, but I think it might be the paper that's not doin' it for me. It was fun to put together though. There's two more ghosts in this set so I'm excited to colour those too.

Natural Cave Girl

This line of stamps (obviously heavily inspired by "The Croods", but different enough not to be illegal) was released June 16th. I bought them, printed out two, and coloured this image right away.... It's sat on my desk waiting for me to make it into a card since then. Blah. So finally I cobbled this together from my 6x6 collection of papers. Interesting note, everything here was on the chopping block to be purged at one point, was cut to 6x6, and has now found itself useful. You just never know! Makes me happy to use it though.

Too Much Happy

This weekend I really had a "messy fur" binge. I picked out this little pup I had printed out because I couldn't resist his nose. Look at that big nose there! I'd coloured the bear all messy, so I continued that with this little pup here. Since he's so sweet I went with very bright and happy papers. This 8x8 stack was an impulse buy during my only, ever, trip to Archiver's but I'm glad I got it. Plus, enamel dots. Love the dots! I think the red pearls clash, but I want to use them up because I don't like the colour red in general. Look for 900 of them on Holiday cards later this year, I'm sure!

Homeless Photos Mini Album

This was an interesting project for me. I went through my photos the other day and pared them down so I could make them into layouts. I had a little pile of photos that wouldn't make layouts or that I've already scrapped and there were photos left over. I saw a mini album of favourite things online and I thought it was adorable. I seized this opportunity to use these papers I'd deemed "too pretty to waste" and some photos I really like. I am also proud I used up a LOT of supplies on this and it only took me a few hours.

Monster Boo!

Just a simple little monster card. They're originally Christmas monsters, but whatever, right? I airbrushed their background and then coloured them all bright so they'd go well with the paper. I LOVE this paper, which is why I've hoarded it for so long. This image would look better if the green monster was in the middle so there'd be some separation between the purple guys, but that would throw off the grouping so I was kinda stuck.

Goth Angel

You may have noticed that I'm not so good with "cute", let alone angels. I started to colour her all cute and then... yeah, couldn't do it. I googled and found this image as a reference for her colours and face. I'm not good with make up so it helped.
There was another reference for her eyes and lips, but the image went "poof" so I can't post it here. I was happy that the paper lines had a decent amount of purple in them. I'm also thankful that I bought a crapton of Halloween embellishments last year, cos I had a lot to choose from for this card.

Unwelcome to the Haunted House

This was a HUGE project for me. Not only is the image 8"x9", but I had to convert a rubber stamp into a digital stamp to make it big enough for me to do this scene justice... and for me not to go INSANE from the detail! Ha! For the background I used my Copic airbrush to add the misty, creepy vibe as best I could.
This house let me practise several "glow" techniques, which was pretty cool. I like the green the best. I think it got really "glow-y", which is good cos it's toxic sludge! Just look what it did to that stray eyeball. I wanted the ghosts to have some personality so I gave them a bit of colour too instead of just white/grey.
In Michael's when I was considering the house stamp I tried to imagine all the ways I could use it, and this character here came right to mind. I think his expression is perfect for the crazy things going on with this house. I tried to make him bright and fuzzy so he was in stark contrast with the house itself. He's really not sure he should try and trick or treat at that creepy house, but at least he's already got a ton of candy in those bags!

I got some new paper at Michael's on Saturday, which was Mike's birthday and *I* got presents! I figured I should use it right away so I had fun playing. I changed the digi a bit cos she had her tongue out and frankly I just don't like that kind of thing. Blegh. So now she's smiling pleasantly. Mermando Sends His Love

I got new stuff!! I ordered a box from scrapbook.com on Labour Day. Woo! I got myself a bunch of enamel dots to play with, Halloween papers, some new stamps, and various other papers too. Love!
For my project today I have a merman and since I watch Gravity Falls all mermen are going to be named Mermando. I used the same colour scheme that I used for a Make it Crafty DT project last month. I thought it might be more fitting for a man. The card was a bit direction-less, but I think it turned out okay in the end. I really like the colouring, so that's what matters.

Hauntingly Witchy

This wasn't the best of ideas, but I tried a new thing with the hair. Of course I forgot that I wanted to make the tip of her want glow and... yeah, you can see the result. The glow of the wand doesn't affect the hair in any way. But, I wasn't about to chuck it so I kept colouring. Screw it, right? Anyway, now that it's a card it's not completely trashable. Limited Colours

There's a challenge going on on the Little Miss Muffet Stamps FB group; it's to use only seven colours for an image. While I was struggling with the witch image I did yesterday, my friend Jennifer Dove bugged me until I agreed to join in. Of course, I seem to need to make things difficult for myself, so I chose only four markers instead of seven. It's all about layers, apparently, cos that's all I did. Just kept going over and over it. It was tough for me, cos I colour dark-to-light and this requires a light-to-dark approach to build the colour. It's pretty jacked up, since I'm still quite sick and my hands were shaking, but oh well. Anyway, it was a fun challenge, almost relaxing. I paired her with a simple card and called it done.

Chilling Steampunk

Just more of my trying to use my digis. I'm getting there... slowly, but surely! This didn't turn out quite like I wanted, when I coloured her skirt I was going for a gold with the Copic, but that didn't happen. I gave it a shabbier look with my pencils, more sketchy? I dunno. My friend sent me a bunch of cool steampunk stuff the other day and frankly that was the impetus for that. I just wanted to play with steampunk and gears. It could have been better, yeah, but it could have been a HELL of a lot worse, so I'm just gonna be happy with that.

All Smiles

I... I have no idea. I was gifted these Heidi Swapp tags by a very kind person on my message board. I randomly took Gelatos to them for the fun of it. Then I had this idea to stamp really lightly on it and try to colour it "no lines". The only thing that would take was my pencils so I did the best I could. I... I just don't know. It's not terrible though, so that's why I'm showing it. Also, while I like her with a little circle nose, it's in the wrong spot. Fail.
