Sea You Soon

I made this card for my aunt. I'm sure she feels unloved because I don't call, but I can't really talk out loud any more, so I prefer email/FB. She does neither, so... yeah. I thought sending a card would help.

Just a little fun, bright card. During Fall, sometimes I like to play opposite day, hehe. I'm trying to use up my Dear Lizzy papers so it was nice to pull this card together so quickly.

You're a Princess Today

I made this card along with another, but pairing this image with this sentiment was my first inclination. I think it was a good idea as it's kind of a birthday card now. I like how her hair came out.

Bu'Fly Friend

I made this card at the same time as another one, and put this image on a different base. It didn't look right. So I switched the images. Unfortunately I had adhered the Prima butterfly with Glossy Accents so I wasn't able to remove it. If I could have I would have made the fairy waving at the Prima butterfly. As it is, they're both flying off together and waving at their friend, whomever it is the card is for.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Smile, your Highness

Yeah, so.... I don't like red.  You probably noticed. I felt like purple and teal so that's how the queen got coloured. I like adding the soft little noses to TGF images instead of the curved ones I used to do. I forgot to add shadows though so that's why she's kinda crappy. Ah well, next time.

Hello Pink Princess

I was timing myself while I did this one. An hour from start to finish. Probably why it looks so rushed, but yeah. I'm kinda mad that I didn't use the prop paper instead of the ombre pink on the card, but I can't rip the whole thing apart so, yeah. I made the flower a while ago, and kept it, it worked out for this project.

Project Life 2013: Week 44

The week was actually pretty busy, but I kept it simple with a lot of journalling. I don't tend to take a lot of photos of our daily life anymore, which is fine, but I do like to include small things in my PL. I went with an "artsy", doodling style for this week.

Project Life 2013: Week 43

This week we didn't do much, so I didn't have a whole lot to document. In fact, all the photos are from that weekend. But I think it's still important to continue on with the project as some of it might be valuable in a few years.

Never Stop Exploring

I love dragons. Having a little fun, I created a fire dragon. Usually I'd define his scales more, but I wanted them to blend a bit to create a cohesive look. I laid down YR65 first and then built from there instead of just going dark-to-light on the whole thing. I based the girl's colouring off of Astrid from How to Train Your Dragon.

Hello Mermaid!

Generic card is generic. Sometimes that's a good thing, lol! This is the first image I coloured in class at the retreat, which is why she's not as good as the others. I went bright with the paper because I'm tired of trying to mimic a watery background, lol!

Yarr Birthday

Though I'm loath to buy new rubber stamps, I found that this line is not available in digital so I finally broke down during a sale at Marker Pop. Some of the images with this gal are just too cute to resist. I coloured her up at the retreat, even though some of it is dodgy because I was shaking *really* badly. I think she came out okay though. Originally I was going to just put a shadow around her and have her on a white rectangle, but I think she looks better cut out. I had the sentiment picked out before I picked out the papers.

Project Life 2013: Week 41

For this week I managed to get some index cards in the mail, which is good because I didn't have any more lined paper in my stash, lol! I *did* mess this one up though, cos I tried to cut the back of the WRMK pocket protector so I could use both sides and it kinda ruined the structural integrity of the protector. I'll not be doing that again.

Project Life 2013: Week 40

I decided to try something different for this week. I take so long to do a regular PL layout I was wondering if I finally broke down and used the pocket pages if that would help. I cut up some paper and added my usual Amy Tan Sketchbook and embellishments. I still don't like the pocket page look, but it was, indeed, a lot faster to complete.

Project Life 2013: Week 42

This week I went a little arty with it. I don't know why, it was just something to do. I dont' have any mists, but I used my Copic airbrush compressor to  do the same effect. I like this whole PL thing because you can try different techniques and use random little bits every week and yet it all comes together in the end.

My Old Man

Fairness being my middle name, I made sure to make nice pages of all my fur kids. I really like how this one came out. It was fun to be able to use so many enamel dots, hehe. YAY for dots!

TGF Guest DT: You and Me are Berry Sweet

I'm very happy today to be guesting for The Greeting Farm with a project. They're releasing new cutting files for digital cutters and when Marie asked for volunteers to try them out a few months ago I signed right up. I got cute little Berry Sweet Anya. I had so much fun paper piecing her and I even used Copic paper for her skin so I could colour her as I'm used to. I was really happy with this card too, the way it came together, and the final product. I have to admit, I'm not really up for Valentine's crafting yet at all, so I went more for a general friendship card. I hope you like my project!

Hello Snow White

Snow here is part of a set of four that I bought just before I went to the retreat. I tried to do this blended hair thing I keep seeing the MiC gals do on the recent images. It's... well, it's basically BS. You BS some lines and then follow them, kind of like you do when making pleats. I need more practise, but it was an interesting change, especially for a gal whose hair is kind of a blob that's hard to do in my usual style.

Quality Cute

I was able to colour a few images in my "free" time during the retreat, and now that I'm home I'm getting them onto cards just for cuteness. For some reason I've been colouring skin a bit darker, but hey, she still looks pretty good. I really like her hair combo.

Copic Boot Camp 2013 with Jenn Dove

This weekend I went to my second Copic Boot Camp in Chandler, AZ, put on my Jennifer Dove. I had a fabulous time! I went to her first retreat in 2011 with my BFF Katie, and wanted to go again, but Katie couldn't come this time. Jenn was a sweetheart and she promised Mike (and me) that she'd take care of me and, of course, I had Sirius to watch after me too. Since Mike had Viggo, and the hotel doesn't allow pets, he continued on to Tucson to spend time with his little brother.

The hotel is super nice. The retreat was in the same place in 2011 so I knew it was nice. Jenn made sure that I had a room next to her, so she could make sure I was okay. First I started off with a handicap room across from her, but after I got back to the room after the first night my room REEKED of pot smoke. I called down and they moved me to another room; the hotel gals smelled it when they delivered the keys. I ended up with an elite room, which was pretty cool. I even had a couch and a desk, which I might have used if I were able to do more than sleep and shower. It was pretty nice to have a room all to myself for a few days, and I got to have the room absolutely frigid. It's nice to have air conditioning. I left Sirius' plastic bone in the hotel room on accident though. :(
This is my spot. Jenn made sure I was right up front so I'd be near her and by a door so it'd be easy to take Sirius out to potty. We had a little worry that people might be allergic, but the one gal was able to move and the other was cool and just stayed across from us. As a friend of mine commented that colouring must be nice because it's pretty easy to keep neat. I still spend the weekend cleaning off my area obsessively, lol! Sirius was pretty good, spent his time sleeping under the desk near my feet like he does at home and wandering to the end of his leash to make friends with everyone. He made a few barks, and Saturday he was pretty growly, but he was still such a good boy to have around.
All the gals were pretty super. The tables being in a U shape this year really helped with Jenn being able to talk to us all and she had a microphone (though it was fussy) so she was easier to hear this time too. It was interesting to see how everyone stored their markers and how they coloured. Since I'd been before, and I colour a lot, some of the stuff was review but it was still an interesting exercise.
We did new stuff too, like the boots we're all holding up (you can see my arm and my place over on the left, but not me). For some reason people were saying they were scared of colouring this image. I mean, it was like a challenge, but it was nice to do something like that. They were all grumbly. ((shrugs)) I don't really get it. I mean, we're there to colour! lol! It's not scary, it's fun!
The only problem I had was I couldn't really breathe for crap. I ended up sucking on my inhaler too much and then shaking like an utter freak. See those red lines? Yeah, they were supposed to be straight. That was me TRYING to draw straight. Just shaking all over the place. That, and on Sunday my tummy hurt so it was super hard to concentrate. And I missed some stuff cos I had to keep leaving. That part totally sucked. Sirius was all over me too, doing his best to comfort me.
Here's a sampling of what we did, including the boots. We got new images for the skin and hair and eyes, which was nice to play with. We also got super cool goodie bags of stamps. There was a little store of adorable images there too, but I stayed strong.

I did my best to combine both books I got from the retreats, and I'll work on the images again to get them complete for future reference. Anyway, I had a lot of fun, and it was SOOOOO good to get away from Big Bear for... well, it's always good to get away from Big Bear for as long as possible. I'm hoping if I start saving now I can make it to next year's retreat. It's nice to get to hang out with people that like doing what you like to do and there was new stuff to learn which is good. You should never stop learning!

Fall Monarch

I spent the weekend scrapbooking and spray painting my name onto my Copics so I didn't get a chance to colour. Unable to stay away for long I made this card. Mike's Birthday

Mike is pretty easy to please on his birthday. He just wants a good meal and some video games. This year it was Red Lobster and some pizza to take home for later. Hello, Gambit

Since I favour Sirius a lot I figured I'd pull out these pictures of Gambit from August. I think she actually is getting jealous of the pup and the pup is certainly protective when she jumps up on me. Probably why she climbs up so high. I look like Jabba the Hut in these pictures.

Moments Together

I might favour the pup a bit too much, but you can't really blame me for liking the Service Dog the best!  This was fun to put together and to embellish though, and I always love looking at that beautiful face. The act of the flash reflecting off of the white underneath my desk gave Sirius that trippy brown colour instead of his usual jet black. I left it because I think it shows all his little details.

Yes, it's officially Fall when the hipsters start talking about Pumpkin Spice Lattes and their favourite things about this season. Mermaid Bubbles

Well, my favourite holiday is over. The site is all changed back to its rainbow glory and I'm back to making whatever the heck I feel like. What I felt like today was a mermaid, of course! Because mermaids are awesome! This is one of eight I bought during a sale at Sweet Pea stamps. I might be a little obsessed. I stamped and coloured her up while I was watching Monsters University. I drew everything that's not the girl herself, just to accentuate her by placing her in a scene. I was in the mood to use some dots so I went a little dot crazy, but I think it still looks pretty. It was nice to work with a brighter palette today.
