Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving to all my American friends! I know other countries have already had their celebration, but I'm currently stuffing my face with family time, lol! I tried to give a card to each of my family this year, this was for my brother and sister in law and our nieces. There's a new, bitty one, just this year, so I thought this was appropriate for them. I got this stamp last year but Autumn was over so I didn't get a chance to colour it yet. I think it's cute how Twila is making smiley faces on the leaves. Happy leaves! I hope you all have a great day with your families. Thanks for stopping by.

Watercolour Wednesday: "Purple Girl"

Hiya! I have an art picture for you today! If you've been following my Instagram you saw the insanity I went through trying to colour her, but yeah. I'm better now. She was drawn on Saturday at Mike's work. The smoke was so bad from people's chimneys that neither of us could breathe. The air was literally toxic (we have an air quality meter) so we had to get out. The only place? Mike's *work*. Yes, Mike went to WORK, on actual work, on the weekend just so we could breathe. This is why I hate it up here. It's literally killing me.

ANYWAY, I took my art journal and after watching a little bit of Netflix I decided to sketch a bit. I came up with this girl, and she didn't look half bad, either. So I decided to paint her. I took a ton of photos just in case I ruined her, at least I could make her a digi and print her out again. But I don't think she came out terrible. Getting the background right was encouraging. I kept plugging along, and had her about where I wanted her. I was only using my Kuratake Gansai Tambi watercolours though, and so I wasn't getting quite the look I was going for. I decided to then mix in my Faber-Castell Polychromos for more definition and refinement. I also gave her some outlines, as the pencil had been painted over.

So, yeah, I hope you like her. She took about a day and a half from start to finish, but I had a hard time working on her cos with all the meds I'm taking I shake a lot and I wanted to make sure I didn't mess up her details. I have pretty big sable brushes and with shaking hands... not great. I just ordered smaller brushes so that should help in the future. Thanks for stopping by!

A Little Bit of Pixie Dust

Hiya! I made this super bright card for my friend's mom. We've been friends for 27 years now, so she's kinda like a second mom to me. We met her and my friend today in Disneyland and I knew I couldn't show up for her birthday without a card. I made sure to give it to her early cos we were going to Character Breakfast and her favourite character Tigger signed it! For the wings I used this tutorial by Kit and Clowder. It's old, and I had to download and then flip it just so my neck wouldn't hurt, but it was fun to watch. I don't usually do wings like this, but it looks pretty darned good, so I might start in the future. I hope you like my card!

Project Life 2015: Week 35

I will admit right now that I'm coming to the end of the line. Using 6x6 papers for my Project Life is a *smart* idea, and if I were  more creative, I could keep it going longer, but I can't. I mean, I made it to week 36 (coming later) after all, that's impressive. But even here I used two pre-made cards cos I just couldn't think of what else to do with these papers. Can't keep papers you don't like either, or mix them, just have to let it go. At least this process has been all about growth! Thank you for watching!

Art Bag #18: Kraftin' Kimmie/Greeting Farm

Retail therapy is a dangerous thing, my friends, a dangerous thing. If you see, also, that I started this "Art Bag" series on my channel just this year. Yes, just this year and I am *already* on #18. I have a serious stamp addiction, I truly do. Now, enjoy the fruits of my shopping! I hope you find something you love. Have a fabulous day.

The Cutest Scarecrow

I honestly doubt that this little guy is going to be scaring anyone! He's so damned cute! When I saw the new release from C.C. Designs I had to buy it, and thankfully it was timed right during a sale, so I picked up a few more. You can see the haul here: C.C. Designs Haul. After my (pretty bad) visit to the doctors on the 5th, they wanted to hospitalize me but instead put me on LOTS of meds, I needed a pick-me-up so I took this guy out and started to colour. The meds screw me up pretty well, so I had to go in stages, but slowly working on the colouring, and playing around with the glow of his lantern, it went a long way to helping me feel better. That's the power of art, right? Making things, doing things, just the distraction is all you need to feel better sometimes. Once coloured and grounded, I stamped some little leaves around Henry, dusted him with some Rusty Hinge Distress Ink, and used one of my older, beloved Imaginisce Fall lines to make this card. I only have scraps left, but I don't want to let this collection go, especially when it works so well with images like this! I hope you like this card, and you're enjoying the Fall/Autumn season!

Feels Like Fall

I love Fall. And before all the leaves get blown off the trees in my yard and the snow starts to fall I want to play with some Fall paper and colours. I had this little horse stamped out already and so I just grabbed my Zig Clean Colour Real Brush markers and started to colour. I've been in such a bad way lately that I didn't have a plan, and I didn't figure on making a card or finishing anything, but the more I did the better I felt about creating again so before I knew it I had this whole card done! I know a horse isn't specifically Fall, not like leaves and stuff, but he was just so happy I had to give him some colour finally. I hope you like him! And I hope it still feels like Fall where you are.

Going Slower...

I really hope you all enjoyed my 31 Days of Halloween. I had a great time, but this illness has made my enjoyment also stressful. I really need a rest. And to that end I'm going to be going a bit slower in my creating. I'm not saying I won't make things, since colouring and creating is a de-stresser for me. But I want to let you know what I'm out of pre-recorded/narrated things and therefore anything that goes up here or on my YouTube must be done in the moment and trying to keep up with my current schedule is just not possible right now.

I have no idea when I'll start feeling better. I got sick on October 11th and it's the 1st now. I'm not better. I don't know if I will be better, or if I'll just get better at managing this new "normal". I have an appointment with the Cystic Fibrosis doctors on November 5th, we'll see if I get answers. I'm not holding out hope though, my doctors are terrible. Really, just really bad. But we'll see. As it is, I'm barely eating, sort of drinking, and only sleeping with Nyquil pills and only on the couch.

I don't want to turn this into complaining, but I also wanted to let you know so you don't think I dropped off the world or that I don't care or something. I do, and I really, really want to be able to keep up with this, but this has been a really trying and painful time for me.

Thank you for reading, I will post/create when I can, and do what I can, and I'll see you then. If you want to keep up with what I'm doing, please subscribe to my various platforms (the blog, my youtube, instagram - all links are in the bar under this blog's banner) so you get notified when I post. Thank you so much and I'm very sorry.
