World Watercolour Month and Daily Marker 30 Day Colouring Challenge: July 6th

Today's prompt was "only three colours" so I chose three of my Dr. Ph Martin's Hydrus watercolours and got to work. I did a light wash of the background with colour which is a lot harder than I thought. I mean, these watercolours are SO vibrant and pretty! But that means you don't need much on the brush to paint with them.

The painting took a bit of a different direction than I expected, but I do so love trees I'm sure I'll paint more and get better. I do like how the transparency on the background branches came out. I did take out WAY more paint than I needed though. I put so much because the other times I ended up needing more, so this time I put more, and now it's all dried up. Gotta use these colours again!

I've had this little guy stamped out and waiting for like a year now and I finally gave him colour. I hate, hate, hate the lower quality of paper he's tamped on, but instead of tossing these I'd like to just get them coloured so I'm going to do a few more over the month. Then I'll move on to the Arches paper, which I also don't like, but I have to use it up. I much prefer Fabriano Artistico paper. But yeah, I need to practise more with the stamp colouring since I just CAN'T stand waiting until something is dry before going on to the next colour. Then the colours bleed and the stamp looks bad and, yeah, I have to practise. This is certainly the time for it!
