World Watercolour Month: July 1st

So, apparently July is World Watercolour Month
I'm going to try and accept this challenge, 31 paintings in 31 days. With my illness, commitments like that aren't the best idea, but I'm going to try. It's also yet another Daily Marker 30 Day Colouring Challenge, which is actually July 5 - August 5, but yeah. All in all, a LOT going on. But I'm going to take it one day at a time and see how it goes. Maybe combine the two from time to time. The Daily Marker one doesn't require you only use stamped images, you can draw your own things, so yeah.

There's loose lists of prompts up on the World Watercolouring Month website and yesterday was "abstract" so I figured I would draw something with my masking fluid and paint over it. I wanted to play around with my Dr. PH. Martin's Hydrus watercolours so I laid everything out while the masking fluid dried. Sadly, the Fineline bottle I had filled with it must have a leak or something, because the fluid inside dried up and is ruined. Which meant I had to use a brush also. Boooooo.

I'm super new to abstract art. There's a process and a thinking to it that I just don't know yet, but everything in art is about practise and exploration. I'll definitely try something like this again and I'll try and see if there's other prompts that click with me, or I'll just go it alone on days I don't like the prompt.

Anyway, I hope you'll join if you like and explore watercolour this month in whatever way you want to. Have you ever tried a month-long challenge? How did it go?
