I got these Caran d'Ache Museum Aquarelle pencils after +Calligrafikas reviewed them. I mean, it was my birthday in a day or two, why not? They're very different than the Inktense pencils which I never quite got the hang of (I'll keep trying of course). The lines on these blend and disappear so wonderfully, I can't even tell you.
Today's prompt for World Watercolour Month was "Monochromatic" which I usually have a hard time with. I like lots of colours, or at least two or three, so I had to think about it a bit. I picked blue, because I work best with cool colours, and then decided to try out negative painting. It's not easy for me, having spent all my time with Copics colouring from Dark to Light. The gear shift from Light to Dark with watercolour still gets me. But it's a fun challenge.
I used both the Museum pencils and my Mijello Mission Gold paints, mixed together, to create this painting. I like how it came out, though I could have sworn the colour I mixed for the very background was more blue than black when it was on the palette. Ah well, it still works. Another painting down, and more knowledge gained. I hope you enjoy it!
