I don't know what's wrong with my cardmaking lately, but it is COMPLETELY crazy! I've been getting the urge to colour, but once I do I'm like "uuuuhhhhh". Totally blank. This one is pretty simple because of that. I'm trying very hard to find better mojo.
You may have seen, for my birthday my long time friend Monica gave me a handful of Faber-Castell Gelatos. I wanted to use Sea Song Mae since I saw her on Kristy's (from Some Odd Girl) Instagram in sketch form, and I'm on a mermaid kick (it's so HARD to find cute mermaids sometimes), so I thought the Gelatos would make a good background for a mermaid. At first I made a completely washed out background, but then I experimented with making puddles of water on the image and then adding texture to it with my fingers. It created the little dots of colour you see there in the background and I think that added interest. Then I wanted to colour Mae completely different from the background so she stood out. There's a lot of mistakes in the colouring, things that I would do differently if I do it again, but all in all I think it turned out okay.
