Card: It's Just a Bunch of HOCUS POCUS!!!

It's HERE!!!! Halloween is here! Finally! Oh man, this month has been amazing, hasn't it?! So many projects, so many spooks and ghouls and witches and monsters... I had such fun doing 31 projects this month. I HAD to cap it off with the wonderful ladies from the Hocus Pocus movie, Winnie, Mary, and Sarah. I made this scene last year but never got it coloured, too scared/not enough time I guess, but this year I just dove in. I looked up pictures of their real outfits and tried to match as best I could. Then looked up eye and hair colour as well, just to give it that special touch. Even for little Binx there! Hocus Pocus is the be all and end all of Halloween movies for me so this was super fun to do. I'm really happy with how this came out and I hope you are too. I hope you have an amazingly wonderful Halloween. Each and every one of you!

(this doesn't mean Halloween things will stop, just that you don't get one a day any more and I'm changing the site back on the 1st, lol!)

Card: Little Witch

I'm really pleased with this one. From the building of the scene digitally, to colouring and creating the card it was enjoyable. I'm really happy that TGF is offering more digis and a BEAN no less. I love the Bean line so much. Definitely one of my favourite projects of this year's Halloween.

Card: All About Candy!

And we're back to cute. Love the little Critters in their costumes and it matches so well with last year's vampire bunny. I tried to crowbar a broom in there, just to break up the cat's white space, but it didn't seem to fit so I took it out and just went with the treat bag.

Card: The Night Watchman and the Stripper

I had these two digis, cos they're creepy and gross for Halloween, but I wasn't really sure what to do with them on their own. Then I thought, wouldn't it be funny if it was a "love" story? The gross, disintegrating night watchman falling for the long-dead stripper... it's like something out of Dickens, or Shakespeare.

Card: Pumpkin King

Just a simple little card and a bit of a divergence from all the "cute"; which is fun sometimes. I'm glad I found an image suitable for this "buggy" paper.

Card: Trick or Treat Mummy

This card was strange. I really enjoyed stamping, colouring, and water colouring it and it took me like 10-20 minutes. Then making the card took an insane amount of time as I went completely ADHD on it. So, yeah, I have no idea what's going on here. It's just weirdness.

Card: Scary Vamps

I really enjoyed making this; I hope that comes through in the project. I actually just left out the same markers from yesterday's project and made it a bit of a competition between the two. I like this one better, I think. The image is more detailed and not as cutesy. They're more serious. AND this card has no glitter on it, which made it nicer to create, lol!

Card: Bee-Ware

I got this set of Lawn Fawn stamps at the Expo fully knowing that I was overpaying. I was balancing that by "oh, well, they might be sold out at Oozak" which I planned on ordering from right when I got back from the Expo. Oozak wasn't sold out though. So I made a deal with myself that I'd use the set before the Oozak package came. Mike told me he was leaving work and picking up the package today so I had about 20 minutes to make this cute little card. Talk about last minute!
Here is what was in the package. I got some of the stamps that I've really been salivating over, figuring that I'd have new, exciting toys to play with when Mike was away on a business trip. He didn't end up going, but Rusty from Oozak still made sure my package got here on time to keep me busy all weekend. My Lawn Fawn/Some Odd Girl obsession continues.

Card: Little Monster

Unlike my previous card, this was a joy from start to finish. It was simple to colour, fun, and the whole card came together in under an hour as I was waiting for laundry to dry, lol. I was glad to use some of the new paper I got at the Expo. It's super cute so I figured it'd fit perfectly with the cuteness of this Some Odd Girl image. Now that I have so many enamel dots and such I'm happily adding them to whatever fits for that last little touch.

Card: Halloween Pinwheel

A bit of a divergence for me, since there's NOTHING coloured on this, but yeah. I saw something online, wanted to mimic it, but it just didn't turn out right. I used my Cameo to cut out the pinwheel, which was nice, not to have to cut it myself. Used a lot of the new pearls that I got.

I like this one. It's pretty cool. It's also my 50th project. I actually managed to do 50 projects in the space of one month. I'm proud of myself. Be proud of me too. Plus, this card is just pretty. :)

Card: Spooky Eyes

This was the second image I printed out for Make it Crafty's challenge on colouring realistic eyes. I wanted to go for a fiery eye, smoky eye type thing. The only thing I don't like about this is the stupid white pen messed up the reflection part of her eyes so I had to try to fix it in Photoshop and it ruined some of my work. Oh, something I don't understand, what's up with drawing the eye and then having hair over it, but not erasing the line of the eye? Why is that done? It look stupid. If her hair is over her eye, make it that way. So yeah, she's either got see through hair, or some weird mutated eye... I don't know what's going on here.

2013 Ontario Scrapbook Expo

On Saturday, the 12th, I went to the Ontario, CA Scrapbook Expo! YAY! I had a great time and got to meet a new friend from my message board. She was super nice and we hung out the whole time, making two passes through the show floor. Sirius had a great time too as he was a huge hit. People cooed at him and wanted to pet him so he was in heaven.

I had made a list of what I wanted, but forgot it my purse when Mike dropped me off so I was kind of flying blind. Sadly, a lot of what I wanted wasn't there. I figured the fall lines and the Halloween lines would be plentiful, but only two stores seemed to have anything new at all, and certainly not for any kind of deal. One store I went back to you could grab a ping pong ball with a discount on it, and I got 15% off from my purchase there. That was nice. Saved me $9 on the Doodlebug dots and Fancy Pants paper (that's what I bought from them). It was just sad though cos I'd been looking forward to being able to pick up some things RIGHT NOW to play with and, no, just weren't there.

One thing  that *was* really good was that I got to see the new Maggie Holmes paper, the Glitz paper, the Dear Lizzy Polka Dot Party paper, and a few other things in person. Turns out I don't actually want any of them! I didn't like the colours IRL and I keenly remember an order around this time of year last year that I ended up disappointed in because I wasn't happy with the colours. Expos are kind of the only place I get to see some of these things IRL so it was nice to know not to order this stuff!

Well, that was my haul. I had a great time and REALLY cannot wait until March for the Anaheim Expo. I'm going to do everything I can to get there and I know a bunch of people from my message board going so I really want to meet them. Here is an itemized list of what I got. This isn't for bragging or anything; I just want to remember as my previous Expo posts left out the prices and I want to know just what I got and for what price.

Imaginisce (Monster Mash - entire collection) - $18
Crate Paper (The Pier - half stack split with friend) - $9
Lawn Fawn (Into the Woods pack w/ flair) $14
MME (Find Your Wings and Fly - paper kit/stickers) $14
Fancy Pants (Memories Captured pack) $18

Lawn Fawn (Critters in Costume) $15

Doodlebug Sprinkles (7) - $4.75 each (yeah, expensive, but fun)
Freckled Fawn wood chips (Stars & Such) $4
KaiserKraft wood flourishes (2) - $1 each
WRMK fabric brads - $1
Queen & Co bling/pearls (25) - .50 each.
Queen & Co washi roll - $2.50

Card: I Heart Halloween

Big on the creep factor, I thought this image was pretty cool. I'm glad I managed to find a sentiment sticker for it. I used a new stack of papers from Michael's and one of the colours in that stack was green, so I accented with the green dots. I tried something new for Zombie skin and I really like it. It was hard to get the camera not to ruin it, but I'll definitely try it again.

Card: Ghost Kids

Just a little collection of some cute ghostly kids. They're all ready for Halloween, certainly. I'm still trying that whole "blended hair" thing, but not liking any of the results. Minimal glow technique too. Pretty lazy considering carved pumpkins are supposed to glow spectacularly, but... yeah, I was lazy. Sorry. I'm liking mixing the enamel dots and sequins on things though. That is working out nicely.

Card: Neptune Is Watching You

Make it Crafty's challenge this month was realistic eyes. Is this great? No. Is it even *good*? No. But it *is* finished and it *is* something I've never done before, so there you go. I've never spent so much time on just one small aspect of an image and that was an interesting change of pace. This probably didn't need so large a card, but oh well. The paper just told me what to do.

Card: The Stuff Of Madness

A dark, murky forest sits brooding under a forbidding moon. Suddenly, rising through the mist, a nameless fear begins to take shape. What is it?

The stuff of dreams? Nightmares? Or madness?

I had seen these stamps around. The stamps with the weird name. Was it German? Swedish? I didn't know. All I knew was that the cards I *did* see using the stamps were cool. Too cool to pass up. Unfortunately, when I bought these characters, Halloween had passed. I got halfway through colouring and stopped, disenchanted. Since it's Day 3 of my "31 Days of Halloween" I picked this scene back up and here we are.

This piece measure 9 inches by 12 inches. It's BIG. It took 5 hours to colour and two characters and the black grass were already coloured! I mean, seriously, WHAT was I thinking with this?! It required an insane amount of Internet research too. Checking out the moon, mushrooms, mist patterns, you name it. And even THEN it's an utter mess. Seriously, don't look too close because it's a freakin' train wreck. A LOT of work went into it though, so that's why it's not in the bin. Two years of work, lol! Add in airbrushing, distress inks, and I actually put like *effort* into this.

(the photo destroyed some of the texture on this piece. I used the super expensive camera - Canon 5DMKII - and yet... yeah.)

Scrapbook Layouts: Disneyland - Halloween 2011

No, I cannot tell you why, but for some reason I get intimidated when trying to scrapbook a large amount of photos from an event. I feel as though I cannot capture it all, I cannot get all of the details down, and I put it off. These pictures are from Disneyland's Mickey's Halloween Party in 2011. It's taken me this long to pluck up the courage to scrap them.
I hope you like my layouts. I tried to stay with one paper collection as a main unit and then had to supplement background papers. I figure that scrapbooking Halloween is still in keeping with my "31 Days of Halloween" *and* I feel really productive. There are still a few photos *technically* from Halloween at Lego Land. I'm not sure they warrant official "Halloween status", so we'll see if I get them done this month or not. I'm just glad these ones are taken care of!
