Watercolour: Galaxy Painting

On Saturday I was having a hard time. Part my own stupid brain, part because I set a goal to write 50,000 words on a story from March 26th-April 26th and my character was going through some serious issues that I have gone through and it was kinda triggering. Mental illness is not something to be ashamed of, but you have to be careful of your triggers and make sure to touch base with people or things that will help you get through when times get hard. One of those things for me is colour, and trying new things, so I was surfing around on the internet and kept reading about these watercolour paints Mission Gold by Mijello in Korea. I checked on Amazon and they had a set of 36 paints, with a pallette box, for $70. That's a decent price, so I jumped on it and they arrived Tuesday. Here's the box all set up ^^^^.

I decided to do something a bit abstract for my first painting. This is how it started. :)

I filmed it, since my camera is right above my workspace and it was easy to film. The funny thing is that when Mike and I looked at the piece we decided it looked better upside down. Trippy, right? I hope you like my random little galaxy. I definitely need more practise, but that's always fun! Here's the video, for your viewing enjoyment. I hope you like it!

Colour Explosion #22: Crazy Bird Distress Ink Speed Colouring

Before the Scrapbook Expo, when I knew how many of my friends I was seeing, I figured I'd make cards. And, since I have the camera mounted right above my craft space, I thought I might as well film it!

I've seen the Bird Crazy birds done in lots of ways, and I really like the rainbow idea. I wanted proper spots of colour, not blended, so I didn't concentrate on blending when I used the Distress Inks and some water to colour them.

I figured I'd include some stencils, my wood embossing folder, and a bit of washi tape. Fun fun! I hope you like it. These were surprisingly quick, and even a wonderful person, Tiffany C, decided to *buy* my two left over birds, since I went and coloured them all for the heck of it. I'm so happy, and thankful, and surprised, and the way my week has been going I truly needed this kind of good thing. Anyway, here's the video too, I hope you enjoy it!

Art Bag #32: Anaheim, CA 2016 Scrapbook Expo

Scrapbook Expo season is upon us once again! I had a great time out with my friends on April 9th at the Anaheim Scrapbook Expo. This is one of the largest that CA does, and definitely the largest in So Cal. While I try to get to the others (San Diego and Ontario) I definitely like to hit up this one. It was really fun to do some shopping (though not as much as some other years as you'll see!) and have lunch with these great gals. Sadly, I didn't notice how much I was exerting myself until a few hours afterwards when it was difficult to breathe and I started to lose my voice. I figured I'd better film this quickly before I completely lost my voice, so I could get to playing with my new toys. And, sure enough, though Mike has taken excellent care of me, my voice is well and truly gone! Ah well, at least I got to enjoy a day out. I hope you like my things, and that if you want to, you'll be able to go to a Scrapbook Expo in your area. :)
