Art Bag #49

I got new art things for the first time this year after constantly refreshing my wishlist. I spent WAY too much at once, honestly, but it really revitalized my crafting and I've made a bunch since then so that's good at least, right?

And of course the video, in case you wanna see things closer.

Gelli Printing: Unimaginable Mermaid

I had a hard time with this one. I loved the gelliprint, but I had a really hard time incorporating this mermaid. I've not coloured much from this Jade Summer book either, so that seemed like a stumbling block for me. Add that the paper that I'd coloured with Magicals decided to bleed and this was a hard slog. But, you know, not everything you make is going to be fabulous.

Colouring Book: Cat's Therapy - Garden

The second I saw this book I knew I had to have it and I honestly love every picture in it. I decided on this one because it was Spring-y and about now my new neighbours are planting things.

This is the first time I did the left to right thing, and I tried it all along the bottom and then working up, but that wasn't great because my hand rubbed across the pencils and sometimes that fades it. I found it's better to just work bottom to top and then left to right so your hand never goes over the pencil.

Had fun working on the greens while I explored what I wanted the buildings to look like. That's kinda nice, by the way, to work on one section while thinking about what you might do with the other.

Mapping out colours with washes of pencil.

I love the finished product. It's so great when things come out the way you were hoping. I think the whole book will look amazing when finished. This is definitely one of those books I NEED to finish the whole thing. You know those books? Paper treasures.

Gelli Printing: Each Morning We Begin Again

It's really helpful to have gelli printed backgrounds ready to play with on my desk. I pulled this out because I wanted something bright and I wanted to mess around with the little hexagon plates. I used some stencils on them and then stamped them onto the background. I found a silhouette stencil and made sure I didn't cover too much while adding focus to the quote I found on Pinterest. Simple, quick, and fun little project.
